Audition FAQ

Due to high demand for RDYO programs from both current and new students, please review the FAQ below before reaching out with inquiries. While we strive to respond to all questions, response times may be delayed due to the large volume of applications we receive.

Do I need to audition?
  • New Students: Yes. All new students must audition to join RDYO.
  • Returning Students: If you are returning and staying in the same division, you do not need to audition and may proceed directly to registration.
  • Advancing to a Higher Division: Students wishing to move to a higher division must audition. The in-person audition held in June is the only opportunity for advancement prior to the start of the next season.

Participation in RDYO is selective. Admission is based on auditions for new students and a review process for returning students. This review considers musical ability, adherence to the Code of Conduct, attitude, and past participation. Please note: registration does not guarantee admission.

Am I a new student?

You are considered a new student if:
  • You have never been a member of RDYO, or

When completing your audition form, please select the division you feel best matches your current skill level and musical goals. Our audition panel will carefully assess each applicant and may recommend placement in a different division if they believe it would be a better fit.

Please note: You should only submit one application, unless you are applying for a different instrument in a separate ensemble.
