The Board of Directors is delighted to welcome new and returning families to a brand-new orchestral season! Here are a few important announcements.
Please be reminded that the AGM, Parent Information Session, and Parent Social, will be held on Saturday, September 8th at 10:00, in Murdoch Hall at Brighouse United Church. We will elect a new board of directors and present important information about the upcoming season. We encourage all parents to attend.
We are pleased to announce that a new Administrator, Nadia Petriw, will be joining our RDYO family. Nadia is currently a student in Capilano University’s Music Therapy Program, having already completed her Bachelor of Music in String Performance at Brandon University. Katerina Gimon is still with us, and will now take on the position of Orchestra Manager. Katerina’s email address is email@example.com.
RDYO now has its own online merchandise store! This season, we are introducing new RDYO T-shirts to replace the old white golf shirts. The new shirts are more economical ($10) and colourful (purple!). The T-shirts are required for all new and returning RDYO musicians, and will be worn at informal and outreach concerts. The deadline to order a new shirt is September 10th, so that all musicians will have new shirts in time for camp
Note: if you are participating in RDYO’s summer pop-up orchestra, you won’t need to order a new T-shirt, as one will be provided for you.
In addition to T-shirts, our new merchandise store also offers RDYO tote bags, which are perfectly sized for carrying the music folder, and RDYO hoodies, available in purple or black in youth and adult sizes. These items are optional but make fantastic gifts. Place your order today!

Board Members Needed
As you know, volunteers fulfill many important operational and leadership roles in RDYO. We are looking for RDYO parents to assume the vacant positions on the Board, including for the position of President-Elect, as I am in my third and final year as President. If you value our Orchestra, please consider volunteering for one of these important roles:
- President-Elect (will assume the role of President in September, 2019)
- Secretary (takes minutes at all Board meetings; executive position)
- Treasurer (monitors budget, oversees expenditures, etc.; executive position)
- Fundraising Coordinator (engages parent community in fundraising for RDYO)
- Members-at-Large (no specific portfolio; expected to engage with at least one committee)
These are leadership positions, suitable for those with an interest in helping operate the Orchestra. Our Orchestra can only continue to thrive if new leaders step forward to take on these important roles. More information on the Board’s role may be found in the attachment.
